How to take a Health Promoting Vacation

As you think about taking a vacation, it is important to remember you never take a vacation from your health. 
Let us explain:
Many of the patients we see at Total Health Institute come to us to change their lives; many have been diagnosed with major diseases.  We call them major health challenges.  Why?  Because you were created by God to rise to the occasion to meet the challenge, every cell working together in harmony to overcome the obstacle in its path.  The word “disease” has a negative energy that feeds the old mind and constantly generates fear.  This fear weakens the entire system, especially the immune system, which opens the door to further disease.  In the patients’ total health journey, overcoming their health challenges, an interesting observation has been made:
1.)  Routine is essential to healing and maintaining wholeness.
2.)  There are no vacations or breaks from your health.
Routine is a must to heal and maintain total health of body, mind and spirit.  Only when one lives the Seven Basic Steps to Total Health, which are:
1.)  Proper breathing technique,
2.)  Drinking the purest water,
3.)  Eating living/raw food
4.)  Sleep, beginning at 8-9pm
5.)  Exercise
6.)  Fasting
7.)  Prayer
Living these Seven Basics Steps to Total Health™day in and day out builds a foundation.  Here the body can now use the surplus energy it needed to just keep you alive, to heal the root of all disease, the stored mental/emotional toxins.  These potent toxins do not come out until the physical body is balanced because they are stored in the physical tissues.  Once these stored mental/emotional toxins have released, the spirit can flow, unhindered and unblocked, bringing healing, health and life to every cell in your body.
When you break the Seven Basic Steps to Total Healthdaily routine, which is done most easily when you take a vacation or travel you pay dearly for it.  We have seen patients get off track with their Seven Basics routine with one week of travel and this usually takes three to four weeks to rebalance the system to the pre-travel state.  What this means is, if you fail to plan how you are going to live the Seven Basic Steps when you travel or go on vacation, you have already planned on failing.  It will often take up to four times the amount of time to regain the ground you lost in your total health journey.  Ask any Olympic athlete what they think about vacations.  They all hate them because they know that every day of their life has a purpose in achieving their goal of being the best.  I said every day!  These top Olympic athletes don’t take vacations and don’t take breaks from their training schedules because they would lose three to four times the ground on the competition, and they simply will not do that.
They have chosen to be the best athletes they can be, perhaps the best in the world.  But with that choice comes extreme commitment, dedication and perseverance to the goal.  The same holds true for anyone who wants to be all that God created them to be in body, mind and spirit.  It takes extreme commitment to the Seven Basic Steps routine everyday.  It takes perseverance, which means never stopping, quitting or giving up on what God has put in your heart – total health of body, mind and spirit.  It takes obedience, which means listening to what God is speaking to your heart.  No matter what your ego-filled, world-filled, flesh-filled, old mind tells you, you step out with the action steps that God has revealed in your heart, no matter what the cost.
So how are you going to handle the months to come with the possibility of throwing your routine off?  Here are some suggestions:
1.)  Plan your vacations in natural settings like the beach.  When you are around nature and God’s creation, with no distractions, the frequency of this energy is very high and very healthy.  This is why people feel so good when they vacation by the ocean, because they walk barefoot in the sand.  This grounds you to the earth and removes any static electricity that has built up in your system.  They sit for hours on the beach (preferably under an umbrella) and still their conscious, thinking mind by watching waves and listening to the water sounds either becoming a meditation time that greatly balances the whole person, or allowing the person to open the door to his or her creative intuition.  Here they can create and plan their life’s mission, the passion God has put into their heart. 
2.)  Vacations should be times of stillness, times of drawing inward, times of prayer—listening to God speaking to your heart—and fasting—from the world system, flesh, and ego.  If you make your breaks a time of prayer you will not only not lose any ground in your total health journey, you will gain ground—a lot of ground.  We have seen patients turn their vacations into prayer and fasting retreats and triple or quadruple their rate of healing. 
Now, those of you with children may say, “I can’t do this.  I have kids!”  A prayer and fasting retreat does not have to be in total separation from the world.  You can still do what you do on your regular vacations, except:
1.)  Minimize restaurants—This can greatly through you out of balance, unless you are eating living/raw plant food.
2.)  Minimize world-filled activities such as video games and television, which distract from stillness.
3.)  Maximize family time—It is better to have family projects, walk nature trails, and conduct family prayer time.
4.)  Maximize teaching time—Train your children to be still and know God.  Move them from the hyper stimulating world we live in that teaches them to always do something to stimulated, to the training of stilling their minds and listening to God speaking to their hearts. 
This practice can be done with the whole family by praying together.  Have everyone come together and be still, no thinking, no talking, just entering stillness with nothing in the mind.  It is in this stillness that the voice of God can be heard.  The place of stillness of the mind is where creativity is born, where intuition flows, where the body rests and heals, where God speaks.  Do it as a family and, after a set time—say ten minutes, to start with—go around and ask each family member what they experienced or heard in their quiet, still time.  You will be amazed at what awesome things God will show you in these times of stillness, and on vacations when you make them prayer and fasting retreats.
