Harold Foster Ph.D. studied 200 cancer patients who had experienced “spontaneous regression” or were healed with no medical intervention and found the greatest common denominator was that 87% switched their diet to mostly vegetarian in nature. Since 1978, researchers at the German cancer Research Center in Heidelberg have examined vegetarians and the strength of their immune systems. The results were astounding; vegetarians had more than double the ability of their non-vegetarian counterparts to destroy cancer cells. Even arthritic pain greatly decreases on a vegetarian diet as researchers at the University of Oslo, and the National Hospital in Oslo, Norway, discovered.
Only 9% of the American population eats the recommended 6-8 servings of vegetables per day. Are you one of those 9%? If you are, that’s great! Now lets see if you continue to qualify for the “eat well” category. The second qualification is: Do you eat your 6-8 servings of vegetables each day raw or cooked? The third prerequisite is not only are we eating predominately a vegetarian diet consisting of at least 6-8 servings of vegetables uncooked so the life is still in them along with our whole grains, seeds, nuts, and beans; now we add that they should be ORGANIC. Organic means that they have been grown without chemicals, pesticides, herbicides or fertilizers. This is so you are not consuming toxic chemicals from your food , but instead are getting the proper vitamin and mineral content from the food you eat. The difference in the vitamin A precursor beta-carotene content in organic versus non-organic or conventional carrots is 18,500 I.U. for organic, as opposed to 70 I.U. for the non-organic carrot. That is a 264,000% difference. Rutgers University did research on the same issue in regards to mineral content and found that the average for all vegetables tested showed 87% less minerals in the conventional (non-organic) as compared to the organic produce. These vitamin and mineral facts are quite convincing that we should be consuming organic produce. So now that you have rated your diet on the above criteria, would you still say you “eat well”? Did you know that all vitamins are commercially processed with various chemicals, additives, preservatives, and fillers and are synthesized in a laboratory? They are man-made and not God-made. The next question that comes up in evaluating vitamins and minerals is “where do they come from?” All vitamins and minerals were not created equal. So you can see that labels can be deceiving, because you usually are not aware of what you are truly buying and consuming. The so-called natural vitamins are also made out of some not-so-nice substances. All the vitamin B12 is made out of either cow’s liver, which is toxic, or from activated sewage sludge.
